2024 PEI Crime Stoppers Law Enforcement Officers of the Year Awards
PEI Crime Stoppers presented their annual Law Enforcement Officers of the year awards at a ceremony at the Quality Inn and Suites on Friday, December 13, 2024.
There are three components to the award: Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer of the year, Municipal Police officer of the year and Peace Officer of the year.
The awards are presented annually to law enforcement officers in each category that have demonstrated a high degree commitment and professional excellence in the performance of their respective duties, in their interactions with the public, as well as community involvement outside of their assigned duties.
This year’s recipients are Constable Jamie Parsons of the RCMP, who has worked diligently to remove impaired drivers from Island roads and to reduce speeds on our roadways in efforts to reduce accidents and when called upon, acts as a resource for other officers in their impaired driving related files; Constable Mallory Metallic of Summerside Police Services, a tri-lingual indigenous officer noted for her involvement in events aimed at raising morale among her coworkers and for her efforts to encourage other young Mi’Kmaq people to consider a career in policing; and Chief Sheriff George Doyle for his efforts in the restructuring of Sheriff Services Province-wide, as well as enhancing operational capabilities through additional personnel and upgraded equipment and educational sessions aimed at helping others understand the role of a Sheriff.

Most Islanders recognize that the job of policing in today's evolving society is a challenging task. Crime Stoppers along with our primary sponsor, Maritime Electric, wish to shine a spotlight on members of the Policing Community that go beyond the regular scope of their duties; those that not only treat the public fairly but insert themselves into the very fabric of Island life. The "Police Officer of the Year" Award is an event designed to recognize that extra effort.
We would like to congratulate this year's recipients, RCMP Officer, Constable Kim Dudley and Charlottetown Police Services, Constable Zachary Gould. Both recipients are known for their admirable work ethic and dedication to community safety.
Crime Stoppers and Maritime Electric recognize the challenges that all officers in our Province face daily and we wish to thank all of them for their dedication and efforts to make our Province a safer place.
