PEI Crime Stoppers Accepting Nominations for "2019 Police Officers of the Year" Awards

Most Islanders recognize that the job of policing in today's ever changing society is a challenging task. Crime Stoppers and our primary sponsor, Maritime Electric, wish to shine a spot light on those members of the Policing Community that go far beyond the regular scope of their duties. Many people on PEI can probably think of a Police Officer that embodies the picture of a Police Officer, both on duty and off. Those that not only treat the public fairly, but that insert themselves into the very fabric of Island life. They may volunteer for a local non-profit, for a local church or coaching the youth of PEI.

The "Police Officer of the Year" Awards is an event designed to recognize that extra effort. Awards will be presented in two categories; one to a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and one to a member of a Municipal Police Service. Nominees must be currently working in the province of Prince Edward Island. The deeds for which they be recognized should reflect things they have done in the past year; 2018/2019. That said, these individuals have likely been doing these extra things for much longer.

Nominations are now being accepted, in confidence, from police or peace officers, as well as members of the public and community organizations for:

Police Officer of the Year - Royal Canadian Mounted Police Police Officer of the Year - Municipal Police Service.

The deadline for applications is April 14th, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. These awards will be presented at the Police Officer of the Year luncheon at the Rodd's Charlottetown Hotel on Monday, May 13th, 2019.
